There are three times of year that I live for. Baseball. Football. Oscar.
Yes, the Oscar season is once again upon us. Ganted, with everything that's been going on in the world, the Academy Awards seem rather petty...but I love it. I live for this.
I was up bright an early to hear the nominations. They WERE pretty predicatable, and I've only seen one of the Best Picture nominees ("Crash," which is just amazing. One of the few films I've seen that has lived up to the hype).
However, there were some things that made be happy.
1) YAY for George Clooney and his three nominations. Not bad for a former TV star.
2) YAY for Keira Knightly. No, I'm not jealous that she's my age, is now an Oscar-nominated actress, and has probably made more money already than I will in my lifetime. What makes you think that?
3) YAY for Paul Giamatti for FINALLY getting a nomination. I love this guy. And does anyone else think that, if his dad was still alive and the head of the baseball commission, we would not have this steriod problem? I'm mean, this is the guy who banned Pete Rose. Wonder what he would have done to Giambi and Bonds.
4) YAY for Matt Dillon. He was wonderful in "Crash."
5) YAY for NO nomination for Russel Crowe! I guess it doesn't pay to throw phones...
